How to create a free website on BlogSpot
Step 1: Log in to Blogger
Go to http://www.blogger.com/home and log in with your gmail ID and password. If you don't have an account, you can create one for free by clicking the 'sign up' button. Button in the top right corner, as shown in the screenshot below. Blogger is from Google and therefore you need a gmail account to build a website on blogspot.

Step 2: Confirm your profile
When you are done logging in with your Gmail credentials, you will see a screen like the one below. Click on "Continue to Blogger".
Step 3: Create a new blog
It's time to create a new website, click the New blog button.
Step 4: Enter the domain name and title of the website
In this step you need to enter the title and address of your website. For example, if you're over building a website, books address (also known as domain name and site URL) could be bestbooks.blogspot.com or itbooks.blogspot.com and the title could be Best IT Books Blog. You should know that since these domain names are free, they are added to blogspot.com by default. Blogspot also allows us to have custom domain names and we would see how to add custom domain names later in this guide.
The domain name must be unique, so there is a chance that the domain name you want to choose has already been registered. In that case, you should try another domain name unless the blue check mark appears to the right of the address field, as shown below.
When it's done, choose a template (you can choose any template at this point, you can change it at any time later, we'll show you how to do that) and click Create Blog!
Step 5: Start Blogging
By completing Step 4, you will successfully own a free website. Now you can start posting / articles, click start blogging!
Step 6: Visit your website
Enter the address of your website in the browser and press enter. You will then see a website that you own !!. You may not like the look and layout at first, but we are not done with the tutorial, we will show you every way to customize your website, to make it look good and professional .
Publish a post / article on blogspot website
Since you have successfully created a website on blogspot, you can now start posting articles on your new website. Refer to the screenshot below. Write content, title and click Publish to publish the post.
When you click publish, you will be prompted to share the content on Google+. You may want to do this as this would become a good source of traffic to your newly created website.
Set the desired permalink structure in Blogspot?
You may be wondering what permalink is - It is a link (address, which you enter in the browser to view your posts) to your post / article.
There are two options available when writing a message.
Automatic permalink: Blogger will automatically generate the permalink for the current post, based on the title in the title area.
Custom: permalink Choose custom permalink in sidebar as shown in the screenshot below and specify the value. Capitalized words with a hyphen (-) between them are the best choices.
Change the look of your website
Maybe you want to change the look of your website, you can easily do this by changing the template of the website. Click on template, as I did below.
You will be presented with a collection of templates. Choose the one you like, click on the ApplyTemplate ' button', which is below each template in the library. Alternatively, there are many websites where you can download the popular and good looking website template for free. We will share some of those websites in the next section.
Download an existing template backup and upload a new template to blogger
Go to My Blogs »Template, you should find a Backup / Restore button, click on it as shown in the snapshot below. The next screen will ask you to browse a new template or you can download the existing template to the local computer.
find free templates outside of Blogger: If you don't find a suitable website template in the Bloggers library, you can get the free templates from the site - http://btemplates.com/, or you can find free blogspot templates of your own by clicking search for “free bloggers template” on Google. Select the template and download the zip file from the website. Extract the zip file, in the extract folder you will find an XML file, this is the file you need when uploading the template to Blogspot.
Upload New Template -
When you have clicked on the backup / restore button, as shown in the image above, you will get below the screen. From here you can download the backup of an existing template and to upload a new template, browse the XML file and click Upload. It may ask you for widgets, click Keep Widgets.
Change the appearance of the navigation bar
Go to the layout section from the sidebar and click edit in the Navbar section. Select the look and style you need and click save!
Adding Favicon to Your Website
Favicon is a small image that you can see in the browser tab while accessing a particular website. Follow the steps below to change the blogspot's default favicon -

Choose a square image less than 100 KB in size and upload it.
Do not forget to change the format to save as.
Adding Gadget to Your Website
You can add gadgets to the blog sidebar, below the navigation menu and in footers. Whenever you click the Add Gadget In section button in the layout, a pop-up window will appear where you can browse and add gadgets. Do not forget to save the settings.
Switching to a custom domain
Above we saw how we choose to have a free blogspot domain with the blogspot keyword suffix, but if you want you can buy a custom domain of your choice and add it in Settings »Basic . Click Add a custom domain and enter the domain name you purchased.

Real-time traffic status for your website. It would show you the traffic sources, target audiences and a lot more details. Here you can see which posts / articles / pages are generating the most traffic and for which keywords. This will help you drive organic traffic to your website.
Custom Robots.txt
If you are a newbie then this may be quite new to you !! robots.txt is a file referenced by a search engine. I'm not going to confuse you for now. I'll cover this here just to let you know where to edit your robots.txt file if needed.
Edit HTMLedit
You can your existing template by going to Template »Edit HTML section. You can also include scripts in the header and footer if desired.
Make money with the website
Now everything is set up perfectly. You can start blogging and once you get a decent amount of traffic to your website, you can request adsense right from your blogspot dashboard.
