Google Suite on Bluehost Reviews (2021)

Most bloggers and freelancers create a free Gmail, Yahoo, or Hotmail ID that’s good for personal use, but when you’re in the professional space it’s always a better idea to get a professional email address.

Google Suite on Bluehost

Good examples are sales@domain.compayment@domain.com, and so on. Not only does it add professionalism to your email ID, but it also adds credibility to your email.

Most web hosting companies offer a cPanel-based email service that is free for a limited number of accounts. But if you’re looking for more features like hangout, documents, etc., I would recommend G Suite, a Google service.

Here I am sharing a guide using Bluehost Hosting as an example, which offers cPanel hosting. You can use this tutorial for any other hosting that cPanel offers.

Note: You can now also take hosting from Bluehost. It offers one free domain. After purchasing hosting, follow the steps below to set up Google apps.

Settings Up G Suite Free trial on any cPanel hosting

I do not recommend using an email account offered by your hosting companies. That’s because when you move or change hosting, migrating the email account can be a problem. While with G Suite you only need to update the Google Apps MX records from. Smooth and stable.

I use the same (G Suite) for my sites too. It’s been 9 years and I’ve never had a problem.

Additionally, for business owners or bloggers looking for an approved AdSense account,I always recommend using your professional email address to sign up, which usually helps with the approval process.

If you haven’t set up any Google apps for your domain yet, you’ll love it and find it very useful in the long run. Let’s get started with this DIY tutorial.

  • Go to the G Suite trial page and click Start Free Trial.
  • Fill in the details to get started:
Create Google Apps for Work account
  • Save
  •

Click Next. On the next page, you will be presented with the domain selection option. In this case, we already have a domain (the free domain we got with Bluehost hosting), so we’ll select the option that says “Use a domain name I already bought“.

Domain selection Google Apps

Enter your domain name and click submit.

The next step is to select the domain’s primary email address. I usually create one with admin@domain.com and add something under my name later.

Create Google Apps Email address

If you are a startup, you must create one of the following email addresses:

  • contact@domain.com or sales@domain.com or support@domain.com.

Enter other details such as organization name, address, and alternate email address. When selecting your alternate email address, use something you always have access to, as it is useful to retrieve passwords if you lose your G Suite login password.

When you have filled in all the details, scroll down, read and accept their TOS and click “I accept, create my account”!

On the next page, you are in your G Suite dashboard and can start with domain verification:

Google Admin
  • Save
  •

The very first thing here is to verify your domain ownership. Here’s a video explaining why it’s required and how to verify the domain: domain

There are many ways you can verify it, and I prefer the HTML tag method in Alternate Methods, which is fast. Simply add the meta tag to your site header and it will be instantly verified. If you bought a domain withrefer GoDaddy or Enom, you can use this tutorial for verification.

Once you have verified your domain, you will receive a congratulatory message similar to “verified Congratulations, you have successfully your ownership of domain.com”.

Click on continue. On the next page, you can add more users and configure various settings, such as email, calendar, and other services that come free with G Suite.

If you ever get lost, you can always add more users in the “Organization and Users” tab.

Once you’ve done all of this, you can access your Google Apps email account at http://mail.google.com/a/domain.com, but you won’t be able to send emails just yet.

You must update your MX record from cPanel to be able to send emails. You can also enable the SSL feature to improve the security of your Google apps by going to Domain Settings> General> SSL.

G Suite Wizard installation on Bluehost Setup

So far we have verified domain ownership and done the basic of the Google Apps default account.

Now we need to make some changes to your Bluehost cPanel.

Bluehost offers Google Apps Wizard, which makes installation very easy.

All cPanel hosting companies can add this wizard to their hosting with this plugin.

Check out Bluehost Hosting.

Create Login to Bluehost cPanel and under Domain click on DNS Zone Editor.

DNS zone editor Bluehost

On the next page, select the domain name that shows all DNS records associated with the domain. What we’re interested in here is configuring the MX record that allows us to configure Google apps. Delete the existing MX record and refer to the screenshot below to add the new MX record.

MX record Google apps

For any other hosting, you need to add this MX record to work on Google apps. You can delete any existing entries under cPanel’s MX record:

Google Apps MX record

Since Bluehost provides a handy wizard, we don’t need to do it here. But you have to manually enter this in any other cPanel hosting that the Google Apps wizard doesn’t provide.

Optional Step: If you want to use mail.domain.com to access your email accounts (which is helpful), simply add the following line to your MX record:

Mail.domain.com

Under G Suite Settings> Email> URL select mail.domain.com as the access URL. It can take up to 48 hours for all DNS changes to take effect and for full functionality to be available.

I usually recommend creating your domain specific social services like Twitter, YouTube and other social network accounts using your professional domain email address as this will come in handy when selling your blog.

Helpful Points:

  • To access the Google Apps account: https://www.google.com/a/your_domain.com
  • Set a custom logo under the apps dashboard. Domain Settings> Appearance
  • Use this free service to check and verify MX records.

Go ahead and set up free Google Apps default email for your website or organization. Let me know if you are stuck anywhere in the process and I will come to the rescue.
