Blog About Life and Love (2021)
Blog About Life and Love (2021)
Do you have a handful of blogs that you follow just for fun?
That’s right, I’m not talking about the blogs you follow because you feel like you ‘should’, or because they relate to your career area, or because you know the blogger, or because omg-like-everyone-else -you -know follows them. No, I ask – which blogs do you follow just because you totally enjoy them ??
Over the years I’ve actually made the deliberate move away from following mostly food blogs (which all too often send me into that old comparison / jealousy / insecurity spiral, meh) and now find myself following bloggers in completely different niches – and it was great. I have on blog categories Feedly for photographers I admire, cool people working for social justice, interesting perspectives on faith, DIY things I really want to try, you name it! Usually they are just blogs that have nada to do with recipes, and I find that I am looking forward to reading them more than ever. But that said, the blogs in my reader that get the most clicks from a landslide are in my favorite category that I called oh-so-creative – get ready for it – “fun.”
And they are exactly – I like blogs! Some I have followed for years, some are quite new to me. Some are about 100% light and fluffy stuff, others dig a little deeper into the flesh of life. Some of them share the most beautiful prose, some are random and talkative and full of incomplete sentences. But I love them all and can honestly say I’m looking forward to reading them most mornings (after reading The Skimm of course, which I’m still obsessed with), and also sincerely admire each of the bloggers behind it.
I suspect you know a few, but I hope there may be some new gems in there for you to discover. And hey – if you have a few favorites of your own, please share them in the comments below, because I want to check them out completely.
Have fun! “
DESIGN FOR HUMANS
What it is: A lifestyle blogErin Loechner, filled with beautifully written essays on everything from design (she’s a professional) to parenting, marriage, work, travel and more.
Why I Love It : I’ve never met Erin in person, but goodness, I feel like she’s such a kindred spirit. And I’ve loved to tune her blog for years (like, so many years now!) for a dose of real-life inspiration and delicious prose. her posts navigate it through motherhood (with her cute little toddler) and marriage have always been one of my favorites. But I’ve always very been attached to her posts about work, creativity and self care, probably because it’s always words that I have to take to heart myself. I also really admire how brave and open she has been to evolve / change her career in some big ways over the past decade, and I can’t waiting to continue where the following roads lead.
Recommendations: Any record in her Life archives. All links at the bottom of this post. The Live FashionABLE scarf she designed.

Why I Love It: This has been read again to me, and one that I still fully look forward to tune into on a daily basis. Her posts are always interesting and fun, and I look forward to her list of links every weekend. Also, note – she has really great readers, so the comment sections on her posts are usually just as fascinating to read as well.

ENJOY
what it is: A lifestyle and DIY blog by Elise Blaha Cripepreservation, packed with tons of great inspiration for all things DIY (memory, home decorating, knitting, photography, recipes, gardening) , great blogging and entrepreneurship resources, and an honest look at everyday life with her husband and two adorable kids.
Why I Love It: I have been following Elise’s blog before I even knew what a blog was. (Yes, long before blog readers were her favorite ‘bookmark’ in my browser!) And in that weird way that the Internet brings people together, I feel like we ‘grew up together’ for the past decade. It was fun watching her transition from life as a single graphic designer to falling in love and getting married, having one daughter and then another, making the leap from one creative pursuit to another – and stories and reflections and photos share it. all on her blog. I just really like the way she thinks about and appreciates life, and I like her style. If only I could force myself to finish a scrapbook …
Recommendations: every single project in its archives. Her posts about small business (these resources are great) and blogging and goal setting. And just in general all the posts in which she talks about everyday life.
Why I Love It: I’d always heard people talking about this blog, but only started following regularly a year or two ago. I’ll be the first to admit that fashionable blogs aren’t usually my cup of tea, but I feel like Emily is really down to earth and posts about trendy stuff in a fun, helpful, and accessible way. Her beauty tutorials are always fascinating and perfect too. More than anything (I realize a theme here…), I love the messages she shares about her husband, and all the honest ups and downs of life as a new mom.
Recommendations: All of her beauty tutorials / recommendations on. Her personal messages. Her DIY projects.
